Summary

A hybrid animal is an animal that is a cross between two different types of animals. Hybrid animals, sometimes called cross-bred animals, are more common than people think. The mule, a common farm animal, is in fact a cross between a donkey and a horse. The problem with a lot of hybrid animals is that most are infertile, which means that they are incapable of breeding with other animals.

List of Hybrid Animals

Mule

For more information, see Mule.

A Mule is the result of cross breeding a horse with a donkey. They have more strength than a horse which comes from traits from the donkey which made it a common farm animal in the 19 and early 20 centuries and still are commonly found today. They tend to be bigger than a donkey and yet smaller than a horse. Unlike a horse, which if not trained or bred will run at a sight of a predator, will attack it instead. They have been known to kill Mountain Lions.

Liger

For more information, see Liger.

The Liger is the result of cross-breeding a Male Lion with a Female Tiger (Tigress). It is said that the breed is larger then the average tiger.
